Empowering the Next Generation of Political Leaders in Kenya
KEPHRA, with support from the European Union through the WYDE (Women and Youth in Democracy) Political Parties Project, is building stronger, more inclusive political leadership across Kenya. Through regional trainings for youth and women in political parties, the initiative is shaping a new generation of facilitators ready to champion democracy, equality, and good governance in their communities.
KEPHRA through the WYDE Political Parties Project, has successfully concluded a series of regional Training of Trainers workshops across Kenya.
The trainings, held in Isiolo, Kisumu, Kitale, Machakos, and Mombasa, brought together representatives of the United Green Movement (UGM) Party’s youth, and women leaders from 27 counties committed to strengthening inclusion and issue-based governance at the grassroots level.
Through the trainings, participants engaged in practical discussions on political participation, gender equality, youth empowerment, good governance, and social justice. The workshops provided a platform for young and emerging leaders to reflect on their role in shaping responsive and accountable political systems, while also preparing them to cascade these lessons to their respective counties.
The WYDE Political Party Project aims to strengthen the internal capacity of political parties to promote inclusive leadership and civic participation. KEPHRA’s approach places emphasis on equipping trainers who can extend this learning to local structures, fostering long-term change within party institutions and communities.
As the next phase of the project unfolds, KEPHRA will continue to support the trained facilitators to engage communities, host local dialogues, and champion the inclusion of women and youth in Kenya’s democratic processes.
Stay tuned for more updates from the WYDE Political Parties Project as we continue to nurture leadership that reflects the voices and aspirations of all Kenyans.
